Haydn's evolution as a sculptor has embraced 3 distinct facets of art and design theory. His first works may be described as "Open Form Volumetric Sculpture" , implying a relationship between mass and void, which may be utilized in the creation visual tension.
The second and third chapters of Haydn's artistic career produced
Linear Sculpture during the 1970's,
followed by a substantial body of work and several exhibitions in which Haydn explored techniques involving the creation of Planar Sculpture in the '80's.
Later in his career Haydn returned to his roots. He produced a number of works involving both painting and found objects, primarily in the Dada tradition.
